It’s CONCERT WEEK, Eagles! Oh, how was the Prom?
The Spring Choir Concert is Wednesday, 5/17, at 7 PM in the Goodson Theatre! Take a break from studying and come see and hear the awesome GHS Choir!
The Band’s Spring Concert is Thursday, 5/18, at 7 PM in the Goodson Theatre! Frequent breaks help you to retain random and non-random facts, so take another quality break and hear the soothing melodies of the GHS Band!
Yearbooks are scheduled to arrive on May 23! Be sure to list my finest qualities (think about this ahead of time) as you sign my yearbook. Or, you can just put, “Fondly, [your grand signature]” by your picture.
REMEMBER, Memorial Day is Monday, 5/29! NO SCHOOL! Finals follow.
SENIOR STUFF
ARE YOU A PARENT OF AN ATHLETE? If so, this message is for YOU!
The Athletic Booster board is looking to fill three positions (President, Vice President, and Auditor) in the 2017-2018 school year. The duties include participating in one-hour monthly meetings, committing (minimal) time at various fundraising events, and making important decisions about our contributions but most importantly interact with fellow athletic/school staff members and parents. Without a full board, we will not be able to continue to support our athletes and provide financial support to the various sports programs. This means the sports programs will need to do more fundraising which means more contribution from us parents. Please consider joining so the Athletic Booster board can continue to function and provided the much needed $$$ to all our athletes and sports programs. Come to our next board meeting on 5/18 @ 6:30PM in the GHS library. Meet the current board and the athletic/school staff and determine for yourself.
For the 2016-2017 school year, the Athletic Booster board contributed over $6,000 to various sports programs along with scholarships to our graduating athletes. Here is a summary of items we help fund:

- 5/24 – Senior Awards Night at 7 PM in the Big Gym
- 5/25 – Senior Check Out (but, please don’t “check-out”). This is the last day of school for Seniors! Good-bye, Seniors! Auf wiedersehen! Aloha! Ciao! Git!
- 5/26 – Graduation Rehearsal at Gab from 8 AM to 1 PM… I KNOW!
- Let’s talk TICKETS, shall we? (The following is from the GHS website.)
- On May 26th, all graduating Seniors will receive 6 tickets after the graduation rehearsal
- On Tuesday May 30th starting at 9:00am, extra tickets may be purchased by adult family members
- All extra tickets are $10 each
- Tickets will be sold in the Main office
- Per Santa Anita’s rules, all persons (infants and small children included) must have a ticket
- Seating at the Racetrack for handicapped/wheelchairs is readily available on a first come, first served basis

- 5/30 – Graduation Rehearsal at Santa Anita Park from 8 AM to 1 PM
- 5/30 – GRAD NIGHT @ DISNEYLAND! Come home early, because
- 5/31 – Graduation (for reals!) at Santa Anita Park starting at 6 PM! (You have to be there at 5 PM!)

- $1,300 for chenille patches, league championship banner and program ads
- $2,100 for scale, pole, balls, fence rental and other sports equipment
- $400 for food at various sports banquets
- $2,500 for scholarships

- Band Spring Concert at 7 PM in the Goodson Theatre! Save me a seat!
- Friday, May 19:
- The Murphy Awards! (The Drama Club’s version of the Academy Awards! So much fun!)
- Sunday, May 21: Track & Field CIF Division Finals @ Cerritos College, 11110 Alondra Blvd., Norwalk, 90650
