As we head towards week six [already?!] here is what you need to know:


9/27 (Wednesday ) Late start day. Get to school by 9:30 a.m.  Classes start at 9:40

9/28 (Thursday) Parent Seminar 7 p.m.  Learn all about Parent Portal and Naviance in the Goodson Theater

9/29 (Friday) HOME GAME! Varsity Football vs. El Monte.  Special guest appearance at halftime by the JMS Band who will be playing with our award winning Gabrielino Eagles Marching Regiment!

Can you believe that it's nearly fall?  The autumn equinox happens this week!  Also happening this week are the following events:
 
Wednesday (9/20) 
Special education workshop on "Educational Apps for Students with Special Needs" at the District office 6:30-8:00 p.m.  Childcare and light refreshments will be provided.  Spanish/Mandarin/Cantonese translators will be available with advanced notice. [See the Gabrielino website for a schedule of upcoming workshops during the year]
 
Friday (9/22) Varsity Football has an away game vs. Arroyo High School in El Monte. Kickoff is at 7 pm.
 
Girls Golf, Girls Volleyball and Frosh Football all have games going on this week.  Check out the Gabrielino website for details! http://gabrielino.sgusd.k12.ca.us/  Go Eagles!

We hope you all have found a good home/school rhythm as we embark on week four. There's a lot happening this week - check out the events below.

THIS WEEK:
Monday (9/11) Parent Information Night 6-8:30. Meet in the gym first for a parent meeting and then visit your student(s)' classes.

Tuesday (9/12) Early Dismissal at 11:25 am

Wednesday (9/13) Late start. School begins at 9:30

Thursday (9/14) There will be a parent information seminar on PARENT PORTAL & NAVIANCE.  Goodson Theater at 7 pm

Friday (9/15) Varsity Football vs. Temple City at home. Support our Eagles at 7 pm.

Upcoming Events:
9/20 Learn about educational apps for kids at the District's Educational office at 6:30-8 pm.

 PTSA is still looking for great members. Moms, dads, teachers and students (especially seniors who might be interested in qualifiying for a PTSA scholarship) are welcome for only a $10 membership fee (and no time commitment). If you are already a part of PTSA - thank you! Also, we still have lawn signs! A $25 donation to PTSA (in addition to your membership) allows you to display your Gab pride at home!

We hope you had a good three-day weekend and kept your cool.  

THIS WEEK:

• The first PTSA board meeting of the year takes place this Wednesday at 7 p.m.  in the Library/Media Center Join us if you are interested in taking a more active part of PTSA Gab Life.
• Varsity Football team's first home game vs. Sierra  Vista at 7pm this Friday! 
• Frosh Football team vs. Sierra Vista after school Thursday -- also at home.   (Check the Gabrielino website for current updates on events affected by the extreme heat such as the cancellation of last week's football games.) 
• Girls Varsity Volleyball team vs. Chino High School on Wednesday in our home gym at 3 p.m.  
• Girls Varsity Volleyball vs Rowland Heights High School. 6 pm (SAME DAY!  These girls rock!)
• Girls Varsity Volleyball team vs. San Gabriel High School Matadors at 3:30 p.m.  (AWAY)

NEXT WEEK: 

• Monday at 7p.m.   Parent Information Night 
• Tuesday will be a half day with dismissal at 11:25.

Gabrielino High School turns 23 this week!  Happy Birthday to our awesome school!
