Good Morning GHS Eagles! Thank you to GHS Principal Sharron Heinrich and Head Counselor Chris Saporito for the important information on “Teen Mental Health” shared at last week’s Parent-to-Parent Coffee.  As a result of the discussion, the GHS PTSA has created a page on its website to serve as a resource on the subject matter.  Please visit: http://www.gabrielinoptsa.org/teen-mental-health-information.html.  Effective mental health interventions and a positive school climate contribute to improved student achievement.  Let’s all work together to help our children achieve life-long mental health.
Here are some of the events that are happening this week:

• Tuesday, April 29:  GHS Boys Baseball vs. Temple City, Large Gym.  Varsity plays at 3:30 pm, JV at 6 pm.    
• Tuesday, April 29: Dog Haus Fundraiser (every Tuesday):  Come by and try the delicious hot dogs at the Dog Haus on 410 E. Main St., Alhambra.  Mention GHS and a portion of the sale will support the school.
• Wednesday, April 30: Late Start Day. All students need to arrive to school by 9:30 am, and classes begin at 9:40 am.  
• Wednesday, April 30: GHS Softball v. South El Monte, at 3:15 pm.
• Friday, May 2:  GHS Softball v. South El Monte, at 3:15 pm.
• Friday to Sunday, May 2-4:  Production of “Cinderella” by the GHS Drama. Show times are Friday at 3:30 and 7:00 pm; Saturday at 3:00 and 7:00 pm; and Sunday at 3:00 pm.

• Monday, May 5:  GHS Prom 2014 tickets go on sale.
• Wednesday, May 7:  GHS PTSA Board Meeting, 7 pm, Principal's Conference Room.

Happy Monday GHS Eagles! First off, we want to congratulate the Gabrielino FBLA team who this past weekend placed 7th at the State Championships and are sending seven students to the National Championship Competition. 

Congratulations also to Deanna Bishara, Victoria Le and Anh Le on the selection of their art work for display at the American Museum of Ceramic Art in Pomona.  Their work is part of the Emerging Artists 2014: High School Show on exhibit until June 1st at the museum.

And finally, good luck to the GHS Speech & Debate team as they head to Northern California later this week to compete in the State Championships.

• Tuesday, April 15:  Early Assessment Program (EAP) testing (English Language Arts portion) for 11th graders who signed up to take assessment.  School begins at 10:15 am for all students NOT taking this test.    
• Thursday, April 17:  CST Life Science test at 8 am for all 10th graders (this test is mandatory for all students in tenth grade).  School begins at 10:15 am for all students in grades 9, 11 and 12.

Finally, some community news:
We’re excited to announce that the San Gabriel Farmers' Market opened last week at Vincent Lugo Park.  The Farmers' Market will continue every Thursday from 4 pm to 8 pm, until September 25th.  We hope that you can come by and check it out.  Please see attached flyer for more information.
