San Gabriel Valley Special Needs Group
The GHS PTSA in collaboration with parents from the other seven SGUSD schools formed a Special Needs
Committee, whose goal is to provide parents, families, and caregivers of special needs students with information, resources and a network of support.

Out of that collaboration the San Gabriel Valley Special Needs
Group was born. It is now its own 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the same goals, purpose, and
commitment to SGUSD.
What is the purpose of the Special Needs Group monthly parent support meetings?
To provide an informal setting where parents can:
  • Meet others dealing with the unique challenges of raising a special needs child
  • Share experiences, practical advice, and resources with other parents
  • Network to learn about other forms of assistance, such as doctors, specialists, tutors, programs and camps
  • Support and to mentor one another
Activities of the Special Needs Group:
  • Monthly support meetings
  • Sponsorship of yearly special needs conference with specialists as key speakers
  • Email Communication with important resources from surrounding communities
  • Gathering data about the needs of our special needs community
  • Provide scholarship to qualified senior looking to continue to further their education
